Oval Park and the White Valley Community Centre Reopened. Lumby Spray Park and Lumby Pool Remain Closed for Monitoring

Following the report of a possible chemical exposure at the Lumby Spray Park and Pool, a hazmat team from the City of Vernon’s fire department responded to investigate. The hazmat team has concluded their response and found that there was an individual exposure to an accidental mixing of chemicals, and there is no risk to the public. The hazmat team has disposed of the mixture. Temporary Closure of Oval Park, White Valley Community Centre, Okanagan Regional Library, Lumby Spray Park, and Lumby Pool

The Oval Park, including Lumby Spray Park and Pool located at 1815 Glencaird Street, and the White Valley Community Centre and Lumby Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library located at 2250 Shields in Lumby, BC, are closed until further notice due to a potential chemical exposure. While opening the park for the day and performing their routine maintenance operations, a Lumby staff member reported feeling unwell while handling chemicals, and is on route to the hospital for further observation. 2020 Annual Report available for Public Inspection

2020 Annual Report Sections 98 and 99 of the Community Charter require that an Annual Report be prepared, made available to the public and a specified meeting be held for Council to receive questions and comments prior to June 30 of each year. The 2020 Annual Report includes the 2020 Audited Financial Statements and Permissive Property Tax Exemptions for 2020. Affordable Housing Projects Coming to Lumby The Village of Lumby is working with two specific groups to meet the needs of affordable housing in Lumby. 1. Lumby & District Senior Citizen Housing Society (LDSCHS) About the LDSCHS Project In keeping with our Affordable Housing Strategy, adopted by Council in November 2017, the Village re-zoned Village owned property on Shields avenue adjacent to the OAP hall to allow for affordable housing.  Since then, the Village has been in discussion with LDSCHS as well as BC Housing on making application to the Province for funding to expand the current Saddle Mountain Place.  Application…
