At its Regular Meeting dated April 17, 2023 Council adopted Village of Lumby Financial Plan Bylaw No. 881, 2023. BACKGROUND At its’ Regular Meeting dated February 21, 2023 Council gave first reading to Financial Plan Bylaw No. 881, 2023. Communities across the North Okanagan Join Alertable

North Okanagan communities have joined together through the use of the same emergency notification system, Alertable, to share time-sensitive and emergency-related information. The City of Armstrong, District of Coldstream, City of Enderby, Village of Lumby, Township of Spallumcheen, Okanagan Indian Band and the RDNO’s five electoral areas (B,C,D,E, and F) have signed on to use of the notification app to provide more streamlined communication around emergencies. The City of Vernon joined Alertable earlier this year, so the additional communities signing on with the same system helps create consistency throughout the region. The Village of Lumby and the Faculty of Management at University of British Columbia, Okanagan are partnering on a Capstone Project that analyzes the feasibility of an Incubation Center in the Village of Lumby. An Incubation Center is a facility that is intended to provide support to, and accelerate the growth of, new businesses and industries. Council Adopts Strategic Priorities

Council adopted the Strategic Priority Setting Session Memo dated November 2022. To view the Memo click here. Council annually holds strategic planning sessions. Strategic planning is essentially the process of determining a municipality's long-term vision and goals and developing the action plan for achieving those goals. This is a valuable method for Council and senior management to communicate strategic priorities to staff and citizens, thereby providing direction for internal operating departments to align their service delivery with these priorities. Wildfire Risk Reduction Works – Pile Burning Notification

The Monashee Community Forest (MCF) plans to burn approximately 700 piles of wood debris at the top of the hill immediately west of the village of Lumby. The burn is scheduled to begin toward the end of November and will be ongoing until the project is complete. Smoke, and potentially flames, will be visible from Lumby and the surrounding area. Burning will only occur if weather conditions are suitable to allow smoke to dissipate. The piles being burnt are associated with a wildfire risk reduction project implemented by the MCF in 2021. The Village of Lumby Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP)

The Village of Lumby received a grant from the province’s Active Transportation Grant Program to explore the current active transportation network in Lumby and to develop an Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP). The ATNP will guide the future development and implementation of walking, rolling and cycling facilities for the entire community. Earlier this year, the Village asked community members for input on active transportation issues, opportunities and priorities.
