Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with focus on enhancing green spaces in communities. The Village of Lumby has participated in Communities in Bloom in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and again in 2018. Each year judges from Communities in Bloom visit the community and assess the community on a set criteria which includes the following:
- tidiness efforts
- environmental action
- heritage conservation
- urban forestry
- landscape areas
- floral displays

For 2018, the Communities in Bloom judges visited the Village of Lumby Wednesday, July 18th Thank you to everyone who participated and got involved in the program – we couldn’t have done it without you!
A Provincial Awards Ceremony was held in Clinton, B.C. September 14 – 15, 2018. At this event, the communities that participated in the 2018 evaluation process found out the results of their judges tour and receive valuable feedback from the Communities in Bloom judges. The Village of Lumby was awarded a 5 Bloom award from the judges on the communities efforts to grow the community and make Lumby the best it can be. Way to go staff and residents, this could not have happened without you!
