This area of the Lumby website has been created to provide basic information on the Monashee Community Forest LLP (MCF)
The Monashee Community Forest LLP is an equal partnership between the Village of Lumby and the Splatsin though their organization Yucwmenlucwu (Caretakers of the Land) . The concept for this community forest can be traced back to feasibility studies from the late 1990’s. The MCF officially came into existence when it was registered in October 2012, with a Community Forest License issued by the Province of B.C. on April 10, 2013. The first harvest by the MCF was later that same year.
The MCF has a gross area of 7,411 hectares (18,313 acres) and has an annual allowable cut of 21,595 cubic meters (m3).

The Monashee Community Forest LLP is governed by a Management Committee (sometimes referred to as its “Board”) and operates independently from the Village of Lumby Council and Splatsin Council. The Management Committee is comprised of 5 members:
- Two (2) members appointed by the Village of Lumby
- Two (2) members appointed by the Splatsin First Nation
- One (1) member appointed by the Management Committee itself
