Public Hearing - Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 761, 2014
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
A Public Hearing will be held in the Council Chambers of the Lumby Village Hall, 1775 Glencaird Street, Lumby, B.C. on Monday January 19, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. to hear representations on the following matters:
VILLAGE OF LUMBY OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN BYLAW NO. 761, 2014
In May of 2014, the Village of Lumby initiated a review of the Village’s Official Community Plan. An Official Community Plan is a statement of objectives and policies that are intended to guide decisions on planning and land use matters. As a result of this review and the public input received through a survey and a Public Open House held on November 26, 2014, the Village has drafted the Village of Lumby Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 761, 2014.
Two primary purposes form the basis for this review:
- to develop and refine policies that would assist the Village in creating a more sustainable and “age-friendly” community; and
- to include a Regional Context Statement within the Official Community Plan which describes how matters dealt with in the OCP, apply in a regional context. The proposed Regional Context Statement references the North Okanagan Regional Growth Strategy which was adopted in 2011.
In general, all components of the Official Community Plan have been reviewed and various refinements are proposed to address current opportunities and challenges facing the community, to update the status of local government initiatives, to reflect current provincial legislation, and to enhance clarity of both text and map components of the document.
All persons who believe that their interest in property is affected by this Bylaw shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the above Bylaw.
Copies of the proposed Bylaw may be inspected at the office of the Village of Lumby from January 12, 2015 through January 19, 2015 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays. In addition, both the existing Official Community Plan and the DRAFT Plan together with a report summarizing proposed changes are available online at www.lumby.ca.
For further information, please contact Marnie Skobalski of the Planning Department at (250) 550-3737 or by e-mail at [email protected].
NO SUBMISSIONS TO COUNCIL WILL BE RECEIVED FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC HEARING.
